November Business Spotlight

Rose Norton - Norton's Portraits of Distinction

Our November “Showcase Your Business” presentation is by Rose Norton, the owner of
Norton’s Portraits of Distinction in Port Huron. Rose’s lifelong passion has been art in some
sort, for as long as she can remember she has loved creating things for others to share along
with her.
As a portrait photographer, she can capture “moments in time” for future generations to
share and enjoy. Her specialty has been photographing the human form, interacting with clients
has been very fulfilling and rewarding not only through her art but the personal friendships
formed.
Rose was born and raised in St. Clair and graduated from Marysville High School in 1969.
Working in factories and as a bus driver for the city for 13 years gave her incite in her quest as a
photographer and many of the same relationships with people have helped her reach out and
listen to her clients to express their wishes.
Rose has two grown children, Jessica and William, and three wonderful grandchildren. Rose
is a member of Detroit Professional Photographers, Michigan Professional Photographers
Association, Chamber of Commerce, National Association of Career Women & Toastmasters
of Port Huron. She has personally created two local fundraisers and worked on projects for
Girl Scouts, Miss Huron Shores Pageants, as well as helped out with many local organizations.
Her current show of Strength through Survival may be seen by going to mymercy.us and
clicking on cancer center to view the 50 images of the survivor’s stories.
Along with owning her studio Rose is also pursuing more of her artistic side as she is
constantly evolving. At present, she is working at Blue Water Transit driving for Head Start.
It’s a great way to watch these young preschoolers learn and grow into fine young citizens in
the community.
Opportunities are endless and we only need to reach out and do the things that our
compactors do not wish to do and step out of the box and grow with each challenge. I am
enjoying these new adventures and hope to have many more in the future.
