St. Clair River Restoration: A Model of Success

Significant progress has been made in the St. Clair River’s environmental recovery. Friends of the St. Clair River staff will discuss past environmental problems and explore current challenges and how communities are working in a coordinated was to achieve restoration goals. Friends has a long, successful track record with environmental stewardship activities and they’ll be sharing the Best of the Best List for St. Clair County’s natural resource wins. These projects are a shining example of how investment and partnership can create healthy, environmentally successful places.
Sheri has been employed by the St. Clair County Health Department as the Environmental Health Educator since 2004, and as Co-Founder and President of Friends of the St. Clair River, she’s led the organization from its grassroots start to become the region’s largest environmental nonprofit. Sheri holds a Bachelor of Science in Natural Resource Management from Michigan State University. She is a certified Master Gardener, Planning Commissioner for Port Huron Township, and Board Member for the Community Foundation of St. Clair County. Her service to the community was recognized with a Blue Water Woman Government Professional of the Year award. She lives in Port Huron with her husband, Aaron, and daughters Kayla (13) and Khloe (10).
