This program will discuss the use of social media and its implications on public and private employees’ lives, including the parameters in which employers can discipline employees over social media use and best practices for social media use. This program will also highlight the United States Supreme Court case of Lindke v. Freed, which Tori argued at the Supreme Court in October 2023. The decision in this case will provide a test for when government employees’ social media activities are attributable to their government employers.

Speaker Bio:
Tori Ferres is an attorney at Fletcher, Fealko, Shoudy & Francis, P.C. Tori concentrates her practice on municipal law and various civil litigation matters, including insurance defense, civil rights, and commercial matters. She graduated from the University of Michigan in 2010 and Michigan State University College of Law in 2014. Tori is involved in several community and nonprofit organizations in various capacities, including NAMI Blue Water Area and Blue Water Clubhouse. She enjoys Michigan football, reading, cooking, and spending time with her husband Colin and daughter Margot.
