Info: Mid City Nutrition Program opened the doors to its new facility in September of 2025, allowing for indoor dining for the first time in over 5 years. Executive Director Sarah Jones shares experiences of getting to know Soup Kitchen guests and the personal and professional challenges that come with direct aid work

Bio: In Port Huron, Michigan, Sarah Jones is a prominent community leader currently serving as the Executive Director of Mid City Nutrition Program, a longstanding local soup kitchen. Since October 2022, Sarah Jones has led the Mid City Nutrition Program, overseeing its mission to provide daily meals to underserved community members. As of early 2026, she has been instrumental in the organization's transition to a new, dedicated facility at 830 Griswold St. in Port Huron, which opened its doors in late 2025 to replace its former 38-year location in a church basement.

Prior to her role in nonprofit management, she spent 18 years working in the public library system. She transitioned to her current field after seeking a new way to apply her skills in management, technology, and social services following the pandemic. Sarah is recognized for her background in human resource management and technology updates within nonprofit spaces. During her library career, she specifically focused on addressing food insecurity among teenagers in lower-income communities, which influenced her move to Mid City Nutrition.

Bio: Gabby Satryb is a HR professional working at our local Gas company, SEMCO Energy. She is in her 5th year of her career post-college graduation and is who’s all about creating positive experiences for the people she supports. Gabby helps employees navigate HR processes with ease and makes sure everyone feels welcomed, informed, and valued. She’s passionate about building strong workplace relationships and believes that when people feel supported, they can truly thrive.
